In recent weeks, Dr. Cristina Alcaraz of the University of Málaga (UMA) assisted in the dissemination of EU-INSPIRE’s Master’s programmes and microcredentials. Through a series of meetings with students, the goal was to inform a diverse audience, both nationally and internationally, about the educational content and career pathways these programmes offer.

The activities began on July 14 at the “Intensive Programme on Information , Communications and Security” (IPICS) Summer School, held in Lesvos, Greece (see IPICS). This long-standing event brought together professionals to discuss current trends in security and privacy. During her participation, Dr. Alcaraz delivered a presentation on “Security in Digital Twins,” addressing technical challenges in protecting virtual replicas of physical systems (see IPICS Programme). At the end of her talk, she provided information on the EU-INSPIRE training initiative to attendees, presenting the Master’s programmes as a potential pathway for professional development. She highlighted that these programmes aim to complement technical training with broader skills required to address complex cybersecurity challenges.

Upon returning to Spain, Dr. Alcaraz continued these efforts on July 16 at the “Cyber Bootcamp Málaga” at UMA, an event organized by the NICS Lab in collaboration with Google (see Cyber Bootcamp Málaga ). The bootcamp brought together over 100 participants from various regions of Spain, providing an opportunity to present the EU-INSPIRE programmes to a wide range of students.

Specifically, the Master’s programmes were introduced to two distinct groups with differing levels of technical background. The first group, consisting of students with advanced training in engineering and cybersecurity, was informed about the programme’s technical modules and potential opportunities. The second group, comprising students from interdisciplinary fields such as industrial engineering, mathematics, law, psychology, and criminology, received an overview of the initiative’s key aspects and was encouraged to explore further training should their interests align with the subject matter.

Through these activities, the EU-INSPIRE programmes have reached a broader spectrum of potential students at both the national and international levels.
